Warren County Inmate Dies
Warren – Authorities in Warren County do not suspect foul play in the August 17th death of a Warren County Jail inmate. 30-year-old Patrick Dorsey Junior suffered cardiac arrest shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday night; EMTs and Corrections Officers attempted lifesaving measures but Dorsey was eventually declared dead at the scene. Dorsey was being held for firearms charges and kept in isolation when he died. An autopsy was performed on Monday and some results are pending.
On Hospitalized in Crash
Fenelton – In Butler County, the State Police say 59-year-old Joseph Stein was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital for potentially serious injuries after a rear-end collision on Route 422 near the village of Fenelton. Crash scene investigators say that Stein collided with another vehicle that had stopped to make a left turn onto Burke Road when he was following too closely to stop in time. Both vehicles were disabled by the crash and the other driver was unharmed.
Splash Pad Opens in Mercer
Mercer – In Mercer County, The Brandy Springs Park Revival Group officially opened a new splash pad at the public park. As the name suggests, the group is a non-profit dedicated to restoring and maintaining Brandy Springs Park on the southern side of the town of Mercer. The new splash pad is intended for children and free for public use; it is only one of the improvements the Revival Group has made to the park this year and over the last few years, earlier this summer a new playground was also installed. Light up the Darkness
Cambridge Springs – In Cambridge Springs this Saturday from noon to 11 p.m. at the Riverside Golf Course is free entertainment with a purpose, the Second Annual Light Up the Darkness Festival. Light Up the Darkness is a charity rock festival hosted by local act Myconaut and featuring bands from all across Western Pennsylvania, each with their own unique sounds inspired by everything from reggae and metal to improvisational jazz. Light Up the Darkness has no admission fee and is open to all ages, but attendees are encouraged to donate funds to the Yolanda G Barco Oncology Institute in Meadville. The festival’s line-up includes eight separate acts Kactai, Mushroom, Lechers, Modern Fossils, Royek, Little Foot, Heart Of Atlantic, and Myconaut, and will be MC’d by Jay Durnell of Dread Metal Productions.
Riverside will provide vendors for food and beverages.
Giant Eagle Sells GetGo to Circle K
Cranberry Township – On Monday, Pennsylvania-based supermarket chain Giant Eagle announced that it is currently in the process of selling all 270 GetGo locations to the parent company of Circle K, Couche-Tard. The sale is currently undergoing the approval process by the FTC and should be finalized next year. According to press releases from both Giant Eagle and Couche-Tard, as part of the agreement, the buyer will continue to honor Giant Eagle’s MyPerks program and keep all current GetGo employees.
