Superload on I-80
Northwest PA – Drivers on Interstate 80 should be aware of a slow-moving superload moving along I-80 East and through several Western PA Counties this week, beginning today. The 150-ton cargo is nearly 30 feet wide and 136 feet long and will be traveling with blocker vehicles at a top speed of only 30 miles per hour. It will begin its Pennsylvania leg of the journey in Mercer County and travel clear through both Butler and Clarion Counties until it turns south on Exit 78 in Jefferson County. From there it will travel through Jefferson, Indiana, and Allegheny Counties using US and State Highways. The superload will be moving at less than half the usual traffic speed and will use both lanes of the highway, it may cause significant delays in travel times.

PA Supreme Court Rules on Mail-In Ballots
Harrisburg – In a 4-3 decision on Friday, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that mail-in ballots may not be counted if they aren’t marked with an appropriate date. Ballots with incorrectly formatted dates, no dates, dates post election day, or dates written before ballots were printed that are written on the exterior envelope of the ballot can cause the ballot to be invalidated without being counted according to the high court. The decision reverses one made by the Commonwealth Court two weeks ago on procedural grounds that the suit which determined the Commonwealth Court case only included two Pennsylvania Counties and not all 67, so this may not be the final ruling about the issue. The deadline to request a mail-in ballot for the 2024 election is October 29th, and October 21st is the deadline for registration.
