Remains Still Unidentified
Meadville – A week after its discovery, officials in Crawford County have not identified the body of a man that was discovered by kayakers in French Creek last Thursday. The man was in his 30s, he was wearing a shirt, pants, jacket, and socks, but no shoes, and his pockets did not contain any form of identification when found; he had been in the water for at least three days. The body was found near Meadville’s wastewater treatment plant. A search through missing persons reports from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York has yet to turn up any leads and the Crawford County Coroner is checking dental records in hopes of finding an ID. ATV Hits Car
Edinburg – A man and woman were rushed to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital after crashing an ATV into a car in Lawrence County, police suspect DUI. Crash scene investigators say that 33-year-old Bruce Letson and 30-year-old Paige Macklin, both of Middleton Ohio, suffered serious injuries when Letson ignored a stop sign and collided with the side of a car at the intersection of Skyhill and Hillsville Roads in Mahoning Township. Paige was ejected from the ATV and suffered severe injuries, she was airlifted from the scene while Letson was taken from the crash by ambulance. An investigation is still ongoing.
SCOTUS Refuses to Hear PA Case
Washington D.C. – The United States Supreme Court has decided not to hear objections from 27 Pennsylvania lawmakers challenging executive orders from President Biden, and Governor Josh Shapiro, that have created automatic voter registration in the commonwealth. After a federal district court threw out the original suit, the plaintiffs asked SCOTUS to bypass the appeals court and hear the case directly. The Justices refused the motion on Monday.
