Man Killed by Train
Erie – In Erie County, officials are searching for family members of a 58-year-old man who was killed by a train while following the tracks in Erie. George Heatherdale is believed to have been homeless; he was struck by a CSX train shortly before 9:30 Tuesday morning and the whole incident was caught on video. Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook says that it appears like Heatherdale could not hear the approaching train; this phenomenon is possible because of modern train and track designs and because the walls of nearby buildings can absorb or reflect the noise from the trains. If you have information about relatives of George Heatherdale call the Erie County Coroner at (814)452-2911.
