One Hospitalized in Crash
Emlenton – A Kennerdell man was hospitalized after a crash near Emlenton on Saturday. Investigators report that Austin McCandless was taken to UPMC Presbyterian by helicopter after his vehicle was hit by a pickup when he failed to stop at the intersection of Airport Road and Route 38 in Richland Township, Venango County. Rather than obey the stop sign, police say McCandless turned North on Route 38 and collided head-on with a pickup that was traveling south. He was flown from the scene of the crash by STAT Medevac; the driver of the pickup reported minor injuries.

Greenville Woman Oldest Person in America
Greenville – A Mercer County resident is now the oldest woman in the United States, and even in North America. With the recent death of 115-year-old Elizabeth Francis of Texas, Naomi Whitehead of Greenville has taken on the mantle of eldest American at 114 years old. Naomi was born in Georgia in 1910 and has outlived not only her husband but her children as well. She claims to have never smoked tobacco or drank alcohol and credits her longevity to good genes and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. When she turned 113 in 2023, she told New Castle News that she wants to live as long as The Lord lets her.
