Preliminary Election Results
Harrisburg – There are still numerous mail-in and provisional ballots to be counted, but preliminary results are in for the 2024 election and it appears that Republicans have made large gains across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania this year. At press time: In the presidential race, Donald Trump is projected to win the state and national competitions over his opponent Vice President Kamala Harris. Senator Bob Casey currently lags behind his challenger Dave McCormick in the United States Senate race. Some races have officially been called, Republican candidate Dave Sunday will be the next Attorney General of Pennsylvania; Tim Defoor, and Stacy Garritty were both re-elected to Auditor General and Treasurer respectively. In Pennsylvania’s General Assembly, there are still 21 districts to report in the State House, and 90 districts have confirmed Democratic candidates while 92 have confirmed Republicans, a party needs 102 seats for a majority. The State Senate seems like it will lean Republican but still has five undecided seats – 20 are held by Democrats and 25 by Republicans, a party needs 26 seats to control the majority.
Burn Bans Issued
NWPA – Four Counties in the region have instituted burn bans due to the high risk of wildfires. Crawford County, Warren County, and Venango County have issued a one-month ban on outdoor fires; Venango County’s ban ends on December 3rd, and Crawford and Warren County’s bans end on December 4th. A ban is also in effect in Erie County until Tuesday, November 19th, and the PA Department of Conservation has announced a ban on all campfires in State Parks until further notice. According to the DCNR there have been hundreds of small wildfires across the Commonwealth through the month of October.
Bulldogs Play for 5th Consecutive Championship
Meadville – After edging out the Oil City Oilers in a 27-20 overtime win on Saturday night, the Meadville Bulldogs will play the General McLane Lancers at Ft. LeBeouf High School for the 4A District 10 Championship on Friday night. As always, Pop Radio 98.1 and 100.7 FM will carry the entire game with coverage starting with a pregame show at 6:45 p.m. In their regular season meeting, the Bulldogs limped away after a tough contest with a 27-35 loss, the only conference defeat of the season. The Bulldogs have won four consecutive District 10 Football championships in the 4A and 5A divisions.
