Veteran’s Day Breakfast and Assembly
Franklin – Franklin Jr/Sr High School is hosting a breakfast and a special recognition assembly for Veterans Day. Any veteran related to a Franklin Jr/Sr High student is invited to make a reservation online or by calling (814)432-2121. Breakfast will be served on Monday morning starting at 8:30 in the school library and the assembly starts in the auditorium around 45 minutes later at 9:15 a.m.
Vans Collide Head-on
Amity Township – The Pennsylvania State Police report that two vans were involved in a head-on collision in Erie County after part of one fell off. On Route 8 in Amity Township, investigators say that the rear-end of a commercial van driven by Richard Fletcher of Steubenville Ohio fell off, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and veer into oncoming traffic to collide head-on with a mini-van driven by a local woman. The woman was entrapped in her van and had to be extracted from the wreck, both of them were transported from the scene by ambulance.
Meadville Issues Burn Ban
Meadville – The City of Meadville wishes to remind residents not to rake leaves into the streets for collection; leaves that make their way into the street can clog up storm drains or become slick traffic hazards. Please pile leaves on the right of way between the sidewalk and the road or at the edge of your yard for city leaf collectors to pick up. Burning leaves is not permitted within the Meadville city limits and the Fire Chief Evan Kardosh has issued a temporary ban on all outdoor fires until further notice. City Treasurer Convicted of Theft
Uniontown – The Treasurer of a Pennsylvania City has been convicted of six crimes related to the theft of $106,000 of money from the borough treasury that she used to fund her gambling addiction. Antoinette Hodge is the Treasurer of Uniontown PA and will be sentenced on November 21st for Theft by Unlawful Taking and other crimes after her conviction in Fayette County on Thursday. According to the Office of the Attorney General, Hodge was spending as much as $1,500 a day on lottery tickets. Shockingly, Hodge did not win re-election this year.
