Snow Causes Emergency Declaration
Erie – Pennsylvania’s Governor Josh Shapiro issued a state of emergency for Erie County and deployed members of the National Guard to assist with snow removal and other tasks on Friday after a lake effect snowstorm deposited several feet of snow across the area, especially near the lakeshore. Erie County officials are still urging residents to remain at home if possible and avoid taking non-essential trips. Snow has continued to fall consistently across the county and around the snowbelt all through the weekend and is predicted by The National Weather Service to continue until tomorrow morning, A Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect in Erie County, Crawford County, and Warren County until Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. and predicts between 9-13 inches of snowfall in parts of Erie County and Warren County plus 5-10 inches in Northern Crawford County. Many Erie County Schools are still on their Thanksgiving Break but have pre-emptively listed closings for Tuesday and many colleges and universities have closed until Wednesday; for more information check Operation Weather Alert. Tier 2 restrictions are still in effect on Interstates 79, 86, and 90 with speed limits reduced to 45 miles per hour.
Electricity Prices Change
Harrisburg – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is reminding residents that the price of electricity increased on Sunday. Energy supply prices for PUC-regulated utilities adjust starting on December 1st each year. The PUC says Pennsylvanians can keep the electric bill down by conserving whenever possible.
