Teen Airlifted from Crash
Jamestown – A young man from Crawford County was severely injured when he crashed his car on Friday. According to crash scene investigators from the Pennsylvania State Police, a 17-year-old driver was airlifted from the scene of a crash on Fitch Road near Jamestown at about 5 a.m. on Friday morning. They say the driver was in excess of the speed limit when he hit a ditch and rolled his vehicle six or seven times and was partially ejected from the car while it traveled more than 500 feet. He was flown to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown Ohio for treatment. Because of his age, police have withheld his identity.

Hospital to Close
Sharon – Six months of negotiations between Meadville Medical Center and the equity companies that own Sharon Regional Hospital have failed and now the Hospital will be closing. Notice for the closure of Sharon Regional Hospital has been filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for as early as January 6th. The hospital is owned and controlled by Stewart Healthcare which has gone bankrupt, the land it’s on belongs to Medical Properties Trust. The two entities could not reach a satisfactory contract with MMC which was able to raise a few million dollars less than the demanded price and would have come short by about $3 million.

One Killed by Poison Exhaust
New Castle – Carbon monoxide poisoning killed a Slippery Rock Township man and nearly killed his wife and son last Thursday according to Lawrence County Coroner Richard Johnson. A report from the Pennsylvania State Police says that when 85-year-old Donald Robinson’s wife found him unresponsive in their garage on Thursday afternoon she called her son for help, he called 9-1-1 and rushed to his parent’s home. Paramedics arrived on the scene to find all three unconscious on the floor of the house’s garage. Mr. Robinson had been operating a gas-powered log splitter and carbon monoxide from the exhaust had filled the garage, poisoning himself and everyone else.
