Three of Four Arrested in Connection for Erie Homicide
Erie – At press time, three suspects are in custody for the killing of 21-year-old Canyon McGarvey of Erie, a fourth is being sought by police. Detectives say Canyon was shot in the head during a failed robbery attempt inside his car on Fairmount Parkway on the evening of January 17th, he died two days later. Khalil Pannel, Amanda Duran, and Kyleshania Pacley are all in custody for charges of criminal homicide, robbery, and more; Erie police are seeking a fourth suspect in the case but have not released information about them. According to the investigators Pannel, Duran, Pacley, and the fourth suspect allegedly planned to rob Canyon McGarvy to get hundreds of dollars to cover one of the suspect’s rent and ended up shooting him during the attempt.
AG’s Office to Prosecute Local Murder
Meadville – Prosecutors for the Pennsylvania Attorney General have taken over the homicide case against Shawn Cranston. Crawford County’s District Attorney Paula Digiacomo told reporters that her office does not have the personnel to handle the case and requested state prosecutors last year. Cranston was arrested last February for the brutal killing of 23-year-old pregnant Amish mother Rebekah Byler in Sparta Township. Cranston has remained in Crawford County Jail since the arrest and his trial begins on March 11th. Rebekah was slashed across the neck and shot in the head in front of her children while her husband was away from home last February; the investigation led to the arrest of Cranston.
