Alleged Plan to Plant Drugs on Neighbor Ends in Arrest
Oil City – An Oil City man will be in court today answering to charges of terroristic threats, drug possession, and and more. 50-year-old Michael Marshall was arrested outside a North Street apartment building on January 23rd after allegedly attempting to plant what OCPD suspects was methamphetamine in a neighbor’s apartment. Marshall was reportedly banging on the neighbor’s door after 9 p.m., threatening to knock it down and kill everyone inside; when police arrived at about 9:50 p.m., they say he fled into an alley and attempted to hide in a row of trees, but witnesses gave up his hiding spot. Marshall will have a preliminary hearing today at 1:30 and has been residing in Venango County Jail on $15,000 bail since his arrest.
1825: A History of the French Creek Canal
Meadville – The second event of Meadville 1825 is this weekend. Julia Ludy Catalano and Gary Worthington of the Conneaut Lake Historical Society will present a history of the French Creek Feeder Canal at the Victorian Parlor of the Unitarian Universalist Parish this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Before railroads connected the country in the latter half of the 19th century, it was through the Erie Canal and its various sublets that industry grew in the Northeast of the Country. Join 1825 to learn about the history of the canal that connected 19th-century Meadville to Conneaut Lake and the rest of the world.
Meadville 1825 is a year-long celebration of the bicentennial of one of the most important years in the city’s history. Twenty-five events celebrating the rich history of Meadville will be held in various historic locations, with presentations and exhibits showcasing a multitude of topics like the Underground Railroad and the Erie Canal.
