Ambulance Crash in Erie County
Habor Creek – On Groundhog’s Day in Erie County, two EMTs were hospitalized by a crash caused by a vehicle cutting in front of an ambulance. Police say that shortly before 1 p.m., an ambulance with emergency lights and sirens was approaching the intersection of Bayfront Parkway and Station Road when 62-year-old Mark Corey of Harborcreek attempted a left turn into the emergency vehicle’s path, resulting in a collision. Both EMTs aboard the ambulance were injured; investigators suspect Corey was also injured in the crash, but he refused medical treatment.
Police are still investigating the incident, but Corey has been charged with failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. The ambulance passenger was taken to their destination by another EMS service.
