Bridge Destroyed by Truck
Girard – On Valentine’s Day, I-90 westbound was reduced to a single lane of traffic through portions of Erie County when a semi-truck hit an overpass.  At around 11 a.m., the tractor hit the Beckman Road Bridge while traveling west on 90 and caused a secondary crash with another vehicle. Traffic was restricted to a single travel lane between part of exits 16 and 9 while emergency crews and investigators did their work. The Beckman Road Bridge was inspected and has been determined to be too severely damaged to reopen, it was constructed in 1959 and only used daily by around 125 vehicles. PennDOT estimates it may not be able to replace the structure until 2027.
