Man Charged Dozens of Times for Cruelty of Animals
Mercer – Ronald Bequeath of Mercer County has been charged with 77 counts of crimes related to cruelty and neglect of animals. The 73-year-old was charged on Wednesday with seven counts of cruelty to animals causing death or bodily injury and then 35 counts each of cruelty to animals and animal neglect. According to the Mercer County Humane Society, a humane officer warranted to investigate reports of cruelty on Bequeath’s East Lackawannoc Township farm, found dead sheep, dead goats, and dead chickens, as well as dozens of animals without access to food or water.

State Fines Erie Casino
Erie – Presque Isle Downs Casino was fined more than $80,000 by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board last week. The board approved fines against the Erie County casino for failing to file a principal license application on time and for having less than the approved amount of active slot machines on the casino floor. According to Gaming Board’s public reports, the two fines total $81,575, or less than 0.1% of the casino’s slot machine revenue in 2024.
