Local Counties May Merge 9-1-1 Service
Mercer, New Castle – Mercer and Lawrence Counties have taken the first steps towards possibly merging their 9-1-1 call centers. Both boards of commissioners have approved measures to apply for a grant from the PA Emergency Management Agency that would fund a feasibility study for the idea. According to Mercer County Commissioner Bill Finley, the only agreement so far is that both counties would like to have a study done. A complete merger of the two county 9-1-1 centers would take years.

Meadville – This Saturday afternoon at 1:30, Meadville 1825 presents its next event: Meadville Ebony Genealogy of a Sort. Dr. Amandia Dixon is Crawford County’s foremost authority on the African American heritage of our region; she humbly invites us all to join her at Stone United Methodist Church by Diamond Park for an entertaining and informative presentation about her book and its research in collaboration with Clothilde Anderson. Registration for the event is on Facebook, but it is not required to attend because the event is open to anyone. Refreshments will be offered by Morning Glories Catering.
