Seven Charged with Crimes After Basketbrawl
Meadville – The City of Meadville Police Department sent out a press release announcing criminal charges against seven individuals in relation to last Friday’s basketball game ending melee. The press release details around a dozen misdemeanor charges; every participant was charged with disorderly conduct, including Notorious Grooms of Uniontown, and Malik Wilson, Joseph Chabot, and two juvenile players from Meadville. Additional charges of harassment and simple assault were levied against 44-year-old Reginal Grooms of Uniontown and a 16-year-old Uniontown basketball player.
Meadville’s Police Chief Michael Stefanucci applauded the majority of players and spectators for behaving responsibly when the brawl went down. After the fight, the PIAA disqualified both teams from the PIAA playoffs this year and may disqualify them next year as well.

Man Pleads No Contest to Charges in Nieghbor’s Death
Sharpsville – In Mercer County Court, Eric Lomax of Sharpsville pleaded no contest to a charge of aggravated assault in the second degree related to the 2024 death of Edward Reedy, also of Sharpsville; his no-contest plea came with the dismissal of all other charges in the case. Lomax was initially also charged with first-degree aggravated assault, evidence tampering, terroristic threats, and reckless endangerment when he was arrested in February 2024. Edward Reedy died in a hospital after being hit by a dumbbell while the two men argued over money on February 5th last year. Reedy had multiple substances in his system at his time of death, which may have caused him to die and so Lomax was not charged for homicide. A plea of no contest is not an admission of guilt, but a declaration that the defendant will not fight against criminal charges.
