Elevated Wildfire Risk Today
NWPA – The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement warning residents of Western PA and Eastern OH that there is an elevated risk of wildfires. According to NWS, a combination of dry grasses and strong winds will result in an increased risk for the spread of wildfires, especially this afternoon. We can expect high temperatures to push the record and reach the low and mid 70s today with winds blowing 20 to 30 miles per hour; residents of the region are urged to use caution if handling any sources of ignition today.

Meadville – Meadville 1825 invites all who are interested to join them at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Meadville on Chestnut Street by Diamond Park at 1:30 this Saturday afternoon as it presents its next program; Harm Jan Huidekoper Essayist. Presented by Adjunct Professor Josh Sherretts of Allegheny College, the program explores the life and legacy of one of early Meadville’s most prominent citizens, his civic endeavors, his connection to Unitarianism, and more.
Harm J Huidekoper came to Meadville as a simple clerk and became one of the area’s largest landowners. He was a devout Christian Unitarian who founded Meadville Seminary School and funded most of the construction of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Meadville. The Huidekoper family that followed would go on to shape the modern city and their names adorn parks and buildings throughout the city.
