Restitution Due for Illegal Landlord Conduct
Harrisburg – PA’s Attorney General Dave Sunday announced on Friday that a ruling was obtained in a case filed by his predecessor in 2023. AG Sunday urges current and former tenants of a father-son duo of landlords to contact the Bureau of Consumer Protection to receive restitution for illegal acts. After a lawsuit was filed by the previous AG Michelle Henry, Fayette County Court has determined Joseph F. John and Joseph F. John II have violated multiple laws concerning rental and rent-to-own contracts in multiple Pennsylvania counties, including but not limited to illegally high penalties for late payments and violations of PA’s loan interest laws. The Bureau of Consumer Protection can be reached by calling (1-800)441-2555 or visiting AttoneyGeneral.gov.
