Measles Outbreak in Erie County
Erie – According to the Erie County Department of Health, two residents contracted measles after traveling internationally. Authorities from the state and county are working on contact tracing. While measles constitutes little or no threat to the vaccinated, it is highly contagious to anyone who hasn’t received a vaccine and can linger for hours in the air. The virus is mostly a threat to babies less than one year old who haven’t yet received an MMR vaccine. Anyone with symptoms or concerns should contact their doctor. A measles outbreak was also recently reported in nearby Ashtabula County Ohio.
