Shade Tree Planting at Cora Clark Park
Meadville – The City of Meadville Shade Tree Commission is inviting the public to participate in a tree planting at Cora Clark Park on Saturday morning. On April 18th, at 9 a.m., seven trees, two red maples and five hop-hornbeams, will be planted in a line running parallel to the parking area by the park entrance on 627 Pine Street in Meadville. The trees were purchased with funds from a Bare-Root Tree Grant from the Pennsylvania Urban and Community Forestry Council. Volunteers should please bring their own shovels and gloves if they want to help with the planting. Oil City Community Cleanup
Oil City – Today is Oil City’s Community Cleanup Day, and walk-in volunteers are still welcome. Cleanup Day is from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., with four three-hour shifts for volunteers to take part in, but it’s not necessary to only work one or even a full shift. Shifts are from 9 a.m. to noon, noon until 3 p.m., 3 to 6 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m. Volunteers should report to Town Square, where they will receive safety equipment, work gloves, and trash bags; light snacks and bottled water will also be available.
Cleanup activities will mainly include litter pickup, but there may also be some sweeping and raking involved in some jobs; tools like rakes, shovels, and brooms must be provided by volunteers, and I would recommend rain gear today.  Volunteers are also responsible for checking in with event staff from the Oil City Main Street Program at the end of their shift, and all volunteers under the age of 18 must have adult supervision.
