Oil Region Library Association Celebrates Library Week
Oil City, Franklin – In celebration of National Library Week, the Oil Region Library Association has a week jam-packed full of events. We covered some on Monday, but the second half of the week is even more exciting!
Tonight at 6:30 p.m. The Oil City Library turns into a NERF battleground with Family NERF Night. You can bring your own NERF weapons, or borrow one from the library, but no Mega Darts or Rival, standard issue only.
The Franklin Public Library will host its annual Attic Sale from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Find furnishings and more on the third floor of the Franklin Library.
And last, but certainly not least, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday Night, Open Mic Night at the Oil City Library with the jazz band Catro. For a $5 cover charge, you can listen to live jazz, enjoy light refreshments, and if you feel up to it, recite your own poetry, or just sit back and appreciate the work of your neighbors.
Library Open House, Volunteers Needed
Meadville – The Meadville Public Library is still looking for volunteers to help set up for their annual book sale. Volunteers will be rewarded with Pizza and an I LOVE MY LIBRARY button, and must be willing and able to carry heavy boxes filled with books from about 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m this Saturday. Sign up at MeadvilleLibrary.org or on Facebook.
Tonight is the Meadville Library’s Open House. From 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. this evening, Touch of Grey will be playing live music while visitors can explore the whole library for themselves. There will also be plenty of activities and goodies. The first 200 visitors will receive a swag bag full of cool things and a custom 365 days of reading bookmark. There will be a behind-the-scenes library tour, therapy dogs from Paws Hand Delivered, and fun booths like one where you can get a custom book prescription, and more. You can also support Meadville Public Library by getting 20% off if you purchase sweatshirts and tees.
