Large Fires Burn in Southeast PA
Southampton Township – In State News, forest fires have devastated about 1,000 acres of land in Cumberland County and still continue to spread and burn. Two separate fires that have sprung up in Michaux State Forest on Thursday have burned through more than 750 and 200 acres of land, respectively. Authorities have voluntarily evacuated dozens of families that live near the affected area, and continue to fight the fires this morning. Wildfires rarely spread for more than 100 acres in Pennsylvania, making these two unusually large. Local wildfire risk is moderate today.
