Registration Deadline Ahead of PA Primary
Harrisburg – If you are not registered to vote and wish to take part in this year’s Pennsylvania Primary Election on Tuesday, May 19th, you have one more week to get registered. The quickest way to register is online at PA.gov/vote. You will need a Pennsylvania Driver’s license or Photo ID, or your Social Security number, to get registered. You can also register to vote at your voter services office, while getting or renewing a driver’s license, and while applying for unemployment or other benefits. The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is May 12th, one week ahead of the primary.

National Teacher of the Year is From PA
Haverford – The National Teacher of the Year comes from Pennsylvania for the second time in a row. This year’s teacher of the year is Leon Smith, who teaches Social Studies and AP History at Haverford High School. Mr. Smith has over 20 years of experience as an educator in his school, and is often the only African American teacher employed full-time in his building. As Teacher of the Year, Leon will be serving as an ambassador for educational initiatives around the country and plans to spend his time promoting teacher retention and advocating for students to have a bigger voice in the classroom.
