Woman Blames Sun for Crash
Grove City – A woman is blaming her collision with a garbage truck on the sun, according to police. In Grove City on Monday morning, a woman crashed into the back of a garbage truck that was stopped for a trash pickup at a house on Barkeyville Road and sustained some minor injuries. According to the police who investigated the incident, the woman is blaming the sun. She claims that the bright glare from the sun prevented her from seeing the garbage truck before she hit it.
Michaux State Forest Fires Burned 2,700 Acres, Rage On
Officials have reported progress in the ongoing battles against two wildfires that started in Michaux State Forest, Cumberland County, almost a week ago. According to a press release issued last night, the two fires combined have burned more than 2,700 acres of land in the last six days, but firefighters have one of them nearly under total control. The Hammond’s Rocks Fire is reportedly 92% contained after chewing through 470 acres of land. The much larger Thompson Hollow fire has burned nearly five times as much territory and is 42% contained. No injuries or property destruction have been reported with either fire.
