Corrections Officer Charged with SA of Inmate
Cambridge Springs – The Pennsylvania State Police based in Meadville reported the arrest of a 49-year-old corrections officer at SCI Cambridge Springs for the repeated sexual assault of an inmate. On Monday, the guard, who was not named in the press release, was charged with institutional sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, and seven other crimes. According to PSP, the guard assaulted a female inmate at least three times last July; he has been remanded to jail on $25,000 bail. A search for court records regarding the case did not reveal the officer’s identity.
Investigators Probe Deadly Fire
Erie – In Erie, investigators say that no adults were present when a fire killed two children on East 26th Street on Sunday. On Sunday, a fire started in an apartment kitchen, causing the deaths of two young children aged only three and five years old, and a five-month-old baby suffered significant burns; she was flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital, where she remains with no updates on her condition. A warrant was served to search the apartment where the fire started, the cause of which is believed to be accidental.
