Man Charged for Drugs and Alcohol While Driving
Erie – A 51-year-old man has been charged with DUI for driving under the influence with both alcohol and a controlled substance, fleeing and eluding police, and 13 other charges after a police pursuit through Summit Township last month. According to police, on the 13th of March, Daniel Smiley of Waterford fled from an attempted traffic stop on Route 19. The chase ended after a short foot pursuit when his motorcycle became stuck in a backyard near Erie. Police say Smiley admitted to having used methamphetamine and smelled strongly of alcohol.
Thurston Classic Reveals Special Balloon
Meadville – The 36th annual Thurston Classic takes place from Thursday, June 18th, to Sunday, the 21st this year. This year, the organizers promise new events to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday and partnerships with community partners both old and new. This year’s special-shaped balloon will be American Rocket, a red, white, and blue balloon shaped like a rocket ship that will participate in this year’s events. The Classic’s organizers will be slowly revealing details about new things on Facebook ahead of this year’s event.
