Clairton Man at Fault for 11 Car Crash
Erie – After a thorough investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police have released details on an 11-vehicle pile-up that happened on Interstate 90 last month. On Friday, March 13th, it was a snowy, windy day, with ice and snow covering the westbound lane of I-90. Police say that Kamal Mainali of Clairton started the chain reaction when he changed lanes without using a turn signal. He was struck by another vehicle, and that accident blocked both lanes of traffic, causing nine more vehicles to crash. A 31-year-old Erie woman reported minor injuries, but otherwise, no one was harmed.
Annual Severe Weather Drill
Meadville – Crawford County will be conducting its annual Severe Weather/Tornado Drill tomorrow morning, Wednesday, April 8th. At 9 a.m. tomorrow morning, tornado sirens around the county will sound, and the NOAA will launch a test alert on radio and television stations. The drill will be cancelled in case of actual severe weather. The Severe Weather Drill is also a good opportunity to form or update your family’s own emergency preparedness plan, should the worst weather happen.
Attorney General Visits Local School
Greenville – Pennsylvania’s Attorney General, Dave Sunday, is visiting Northwest Pennsylvania this afternoon. AG Sunday will be at Greenville Sr. High School for an assembly honoring Nico Nicklin, the Greenville Elementary School Student whose artwork is the cover for Pennsylvania’s 2026 Drug-Free Calendar. Sunday will also make a presentation on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. Nico is a 6th grader at Greenville Elementary; last year, he, along with thousands of other 5th-grade students, submitted artwork for the calendar contest last October.
Flags Half-Staff to Honor Firefighters
Harrisburg – Flags are at half-staff across the commonwealth to honor two firefighters who were killed by a DUI driver on Saturday. On Monday, Governor Shapiro ordered flags to fly half-staff on all commonwealth buildings in memory of Fire Chief Jeffory Buck and Assistant Chief Robert Shick Jr. of the Walnuttown Fire Company in Berks County. The two men were participating in a search for a missing woman when their vehicle was hit head-on by a drunk driver at 6 p.m. Saturday evening. Flags will remain at half-staff on all commonwealth facilities until both men are entured; private citizens are, of course, invited to take part.
