Man Drowns in Allegheny River
Franklin – An 18-year-old who went missing in the Allegheny River near Oil City was found deceased several miles downriver, south of Franklin, on Friday. Jeril Hutton of Coalport in Clearfield County was swimming in the Allegheny River when he was dragged under by a current and disappeared. He was rediscovered roughly 12 miles downstream, a little before 5:30 Friday evening, and declared dead by Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh shortly after 6:00 p.m. Jeril’s death was declared an accidental drowning after his body was recovered.
Air Quality Alert for NWPA
Northwest PA – A code orange air quality alert due to airborne particles has been issued for Northwest Pennsylvania today. Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection has issued a warning for a large area including Crawford, Erie, Mercer, Venango, Forest, and Warren Counties until midnight tonight. An orange air quality alert means that the air is unhealthy for people in sensitive groups such as the very young, the very old, people with asthma or other breathing problems, heart disease, and similar health conditions. The alert lasts until midnight tonight, and a yellow alert has been preemptively issued through Wednesday.
