Motorcycle Crash Injures Two
Girard – Two people were hospitalized when a motorcycle hit a car in Girard; the Pennsylvania State Police are investigating. According to investigators, a 60-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman were taken to UPMC Hamot with unspecified injuries. The Preliminary investigation reports that an Albion woman was turning to head west on Route 20 from Westgate Drive and didn’t see the motorcycle. She entered the intersection and was hit on the side, which threw both riders from their bike.
CCFS Food Pantry to Relocate
Meadville – Crawford County’s Center for Family Services will be relocating its Meadville Food Bank next week from its current location on 1099 Morgan Village Road to a new location on 205 Walnut Street, the former location of Holeva’s Discount Warehouse. CCCFS is hopeful that the more accessible downtown location can better serve the community. To facilitate the move, the food bank will be closed from Tuesday, August 12th, until Wednesday, August 20th. Food distribution will resume its usual Thursday and Monday schedule on the 21st.
Wanted for Kidnapping: Jafar Almaarej
Erie – Authorities in Erie County are searching for a Dearborn, Michigan, man who allegedly kidnapped his daughter and has threatened to kill her. 39-year-old Jafar Almaarej is wanted by the Millcreek Township Police Department for kidnapping and interfering with the custody of children after allegedly taking his daughter away from her mother in violation of a protection order issued against him for his wife and daughter. He was last seen on Sunday driving a black Jeep Wrangler with a Michigan license plate number 050G994 and may be attempting to flee back to Michigan.
Almaarej took his daughter at 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon while her mother was at work.
He texted the mother, telling her that if she called the police, she would have to search for her daughter’s bones. He is a man of Middle Eastern descent with black hair, tan skin, and brown eyes; there was no available information about his height and weight.
