Man Charged for CSAM and Corruption of Minors
Pleasantville – A Crawford County man has been charged with multiple felonies after an interstate investigation allegedly discovered evidence that he was exchanging abuse material with a 15-year-old girl on the internet. 22-year-old William Thompson is charged with five counts of possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material, corruption of minors, and unlawful contact with a minor. Authorities say a joint investigation involving the Titusville Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Muskego, Wisconsin PD, revealed that Thompson had exchanged the material with the teenage girl while they were in contact over multiple platforms.
PA Sues Uber over Prices
Harrisburg – Pennsylvania is joining with 20 other states as part of a Federal Lawsuit against Uber. Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that PA will be joining in on the lawsuit on Monday. The suit pursues Uber for the alleged use of deceptive subscription practices when they offered customers free trials of premium services they claimed would save them money. According to the suit, the services, like Uber One, are difficult to pause or unenroll from, and began billing customers without warning the moment their trial subscriptions ended. It also alleges that Uber misled users about the savings that the subscription would offer.
Christmas Shipping Deadlines
Pennsylvania – Christmas is only nine days away. If you plan to ship or send your Christmas presents through the mail and want them to arrive on time, you have three imminent deadlines this week. Wednesday is tomorrow; according to Postal Service officials, it is the last day to ship Ground Advantage packages and first-class letters containing Christmas Cards if you want to be sure they will arrive at their destination before Christmas Eve. The deadline for Priority Mail is Thursday, and Priority Express packages must be out by Saturday. Get that Holiday shopping rounded up, wrapped up, and shipped out.
No Injuries after Explosion
Erie – Nobody was injured, but a disabled, wheelchair bound man’s home was rendered unlivable after what was called a minor explosion in Erie. At the Erie Housing Authority Building on Dawson Avenue on Friday morning, a small accidental fire caused what firefighters called a minor explosion at about 10:30 a.m. Chief Fire Inspector John Saur says that the resident and his home health care aid were taken to a hospital out of an abundance of caution and were given a clean bill of health. It only took firefighters about five minutes to extinguish the flames.
Poaching Charges Filed
Utica – A Venango County man was charged with 30 crimes for unlawful taking of game, including one felony for possessing a prohibited weapon; his social media posts were key evidence in the case. 28-year-old Collin Stone has had his PA hunting privileges revoked since 2017, but his Instagram account showed Game Commission officers that he has continued to hunt. Investigators found evidence of multiple unlicensed hunts on Stone’s social media after an acquaintance reported he had harvested a sublegal buck in November.
