Notary Agent Steals Thousands from Clients
Hadley – A Mercer County notary agent was arrested last week; he’s accused of stealing thousands of dollars from customers who came to him for title transfers. Ronald Scofield of Hadley is accused of theft by failure to make disposition of funds. Police say that from 2022 to 2025, he kept more than $5,500 from at least 21 victims seeking to have their vehicle titles updated at his notary.
