Search for Missing Man Postponed
Oil City – Rescuers had to suspend the search for Jason Firster of Oil City on Sunday because conditions on the Allegheny River became too hazardous. The search began on Wednesday when it was reported that Jason fell off Wye Bridge and into the Allegheny River. The search resumed on Thursday, and for three days, various agencies used aerial and underwater drones, side scanning SONAR, and other methods in an attempt to track down Jason or his remains. At press time, it’s unclear whether the search will continue today. Anybody planning any activity related to this search should contact the Oil City Fire Department at (814)678-3061.

State News: Grave Robber Arrested
Ephrata – A man named Jonathan Christ Gerlach was arrested near Philadelphia for the alleged theft of around 100 bodies from a cemetery. Police searched Gerlach’s home and a storage locker in Ephrata and discovered the remains of about 100 bodies that had been removed from Mount Moriah Cemetery over a period of months. Gerlach has apparently been cooperating with the police and even showed them where some of the bodies were stolen from, but is still being held on $1 million bail. He has been charged with 100 counts each of abuse of a corpse and receiving stolen property, plus multiple other crimes.
