TPD Responds to Officer’s Felony Charge
Titusville – An official response was published by the Titusville Police Department after one of their officers was officially charged with a felony in another jurisdiction. TPD Patrolman James Carlson was charged with drug-related crimes by the Edinboro Police Department on December 19th of last year, after an investigation into the phone records of an alleged cocaine and heroin dealer. In its official statement issued on Friday, the Titusville Police Department confirmed the charges against Carlson and also announced that he had resigned from the department on December 22nd after discovering the charges.
TPD hired Carlson just two weeks after the alleged purchase, and as part of their statement, promised a review of their hiring and background check policies. The department also stated its commitment to transparency. Charles Ross of Erie was arraigned on charges in the same case on January 8th; Edinboro Police believe he is the seller.
