Bus Crash Hurts Nobody
Cambridge Springs – There were no injuries when two buses collided on Center Street in Cambridge Springs. On Sunday afternoon, two Anderson buses had a minor crash in a residential area near the Prison in Cambridge Springs. According to crash scene investigators, at about 2:30 in the afternoon on Sunday, during a snowstorm, two coach buses were making their way north on Center Street when the lead bus lost traction and slid into the following bus. Both vehicles ended up sliding farther downhill and partially leaving the roadway, causing an extended closure until the buses could be returned to the road.
Steelers Coach Steps Down
Pittsburgh – In State News, Mike Tomlin, head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Franchise has retired after 19 years. Tomlin announced he was stepping down on Tuesday, after a lopsided playoff defeat against the Houston Texans. In 19 years with Tomlin at the helm, the Steelers have never had a losing season, made 13 playoff appearances, won the AFC North Division title eight times, and won their sixth Super Bowl victory. During his remarks, Tomlin thanked the fans, staff, and players for their efforts.
Crash Hospitalizes One
Conneautville – An 84-year-old man was hospitalized after crashing outside of Conneautville last Thursday. Investigators from the Pennsylvania State Police say Charles Scott crashed east of Conneautville on Route 198 at about 7:40 p.m. They say Mr. Scott failed to negotiate a left turn, hit a guardrail, then traveled for about 500 feet until hitting a second guardrail and coming to a stop perched on top of it. He was taken to Meadville Medical Center by ambulance under suspicion of serious injuries.
Judge Recuses Self from Murder Trial
Erie – There have been two major developments in the court case for the homicide of Marchello Woodard. On Monday, District Justice Paul Bizzaro recused himself from being the judge on the trial; he cited his previous history as an Erie Police Officer for his reason. District Judge Susan Strohmeyer will be taking over and handling the preliminary hearings until a new judge is officially appointed. The official cause of death for Marchello was multiple gunshot wounds, but a toxicology report indicates he also had a lethal amount of cocaine in his system when he was shot by State Parole Officer Kevin Seelinger.
