Five Car Pile-Up on July 4th
Erie – There were no injuries despite a five-car pile-up on Interstate 90 in Erie County on Independence Day. Just before 2 p.m. in Summit Township on July 4th, a string of vehicles following each other too closely all collided with one another when the lead driver suddenly braked near Mile Marker 26. The chain reaction crash disabled three of the five vehicles and caused major congestion in the eastbound lane, but nobody was injured. A crash report from the PA state police shows that only the first driver to hit another vehicle was charged.
