“Look Twice” Third Biker Killed in Shenango Township
West Middlesex – The Shenango Township Police Department is investigating the death of a motorcyclist, the third one in a month. 28-year-old Cole Bundy of Sharpsville died at UPMC Farrel after a collision with another vehicle at the intersection of Hubbard Middlesex Road and Seig Hill Road. According to first responders, both vehicles were on fire when they arrived on the scene shortly before 6 p.m. Monday. Shenango Township Fire Chief Justin Barnes says this is the third fatal motorcycle accident they’ve responded to in a month, and he urged people to please pay attention and look twice.
Former Cop Pleads Guilty At Start of Trial
Beaver – On Tuesday, a former Beaver County police officer pleaded guilty to manslaughter and other crimes in the 2022 death of a man who had witnessed a crime. John J. Hawk changed his plea on all charges to guilty just his trial began on Tuesday morning for the death of Kenneth Vinyard. 48-year-old Kenneth was a witness to a shooting at a Wal-Mart in Beaver County, the the time Hawk was a member of the Center Township Police Department and was off duty but arrived at the scene to help. He assaulted Mr. Vinyard when he approached officers to tell them what he saw, and caused the victim’s death through head trauma. Hawk pleaded guilty to manslaughter, assault, and other charges; he has been sentenced to five years of probation by Judge Richard Mancini.
According to Pennsylvania’s Attorney General, there was no plea deal offered between Hawk’s defense team and the prosecution, and no notification that this would happen. “My team was fully prepared to try this case,” Dave Sunday said, “but, after selecting a jury on Monday, we were informed the defendant wished to plead guilty.”
