Man Attacks PennDOT Flagger at Worksite
Fairview – The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an alleged assault on a PennDOT flagger in Erie County. In a supposed road rage incident last Wednesday, on June 26th, a man named Nicholas Sanzo allegedly jumped out of his vehicle to punch a PennDOT flagger who had stopped him at a worksite on Heidler Road in Fairview Township. The PennDOT employee was able to put Sanzo into some kind of restraining hold, but was bitten several times, breaking the skin. Police say Sanzo has been charged with simple assault, but no court records were available.
One Charged in Fight on Side of Highway
Slippery Rock – In another road rage incident, a New Castle man has been charged with harassment and criminal mischief after an altercation with a truck driver from Ontario, Canada. 60-year-old William Guiney allegedly got involved in fisticuffs with the truck driver just south of the Slippery Rock exit on Route 79 on June 16th. The two men fought on the side of the highway before Guiney returned to his SUV and drove away. The State Police based in Mercer County reported the incident and Guiney was charged in Butler County Court on Monday.
