Summer Food Programs Open Across NWPA
NWPA – Summer vacation is here, and for many food-insecure families in our region, there are lots of services available to help ensure that children, and even adults, can find a nutritious, cost-free lunch this summer; many of them kicking off today: here are three of many.
In Mercer County, the Mercer County Food Bank launches Myron’s Meal Mobile, providing cost-free hot lunches to all comers from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Meal Mobile will visit specific locations across Mercer County daily. Find its schedule at MercerCountyFoodBank.org.
In Venango County, the Summer Food Service Program is providing grab-and-go lunches at various locations around the region. Signs posted in multiple towns in Venango County will have the exact details on each time and location. The Summer Food Service Program is sponsored by the USDA, Venango County Human Services, and administered by the Truancy Outreach Program.
In Meadville, the Dino Diner opens at the Meadville Public Library, serving lunches to children and one accompanying adult on weekdays from 11:30 to 12:30; the lunches are provided by the YMCA.
