Criminal Investigation After Body Discovered
Marienville – A missing person’s case has become a criminal investigation after the body of a Clarion County man was discovered in a remote part of Forest County. A Pennsylvania State Police Trooper discovered the body of 44-year-old Jeffery McClelland of Clarion in Jenks Township at around 11 a.m. Friday morning. Jeffery had been listed as a missing person since November 19th. A criminal investigation into his death is now underway. Teacher Accused of Contact with Minors
Warren – A former substitute teacher at Beaty Warren Middle School is being investigated for alleged inappropriate contact with a minor. 35-year-old Logan Beard is charged with corruption of minors and other crimes, 10 years after an alleged incident in 2016. The victim, who was at that time a 16-year-old, stepped forward to report the incident after they discovered he worked at the middle school and were concerned that the same situation could happen to another girl.
Officer Pleads Guilty in Drug Case
McKean – A former Titusville Police Officer accused of purchasing cocaine has agreed to a plea deal. James Carlson of Meadville pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to one year of probation, a fine, and ordered to undergo drug and alcohol evaluations. As a condition of the deal, the Erie County District Attorney withdrew a felony charge for criminal use of a communications facility. Carlson was hired by the Titusville Police Department only a few months before he was charged by the Edinboro Police Department for using Snapchat to set up the drug purchase in December.
AG Sunday, Others, Oppose LiveNation Settlement
Harrisburg – Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Dave Sunday recently announced his commitment to continuing an anti-monopoly suit against Ticketmaster’s parent company, LiveNation. The previous Attorney General, Michelle Henry, joined with 40 other states, including New York and Ohio, to sign on to a 2024 suit filed by the Department of Justice. On Monday, AG Sunday, along with other states’ Attorneys General have filed a motion to declare a mistrial after the DOJ entered a settlement with LiveNation that they believe does not protect consumers in their states. The coalition seeks to force the divestiture of LiveNation from Ticketmaster.
