Teen Charged for Erie Gun Battle
Erie – A Meadville teen faces eight criminal charges, including four felonies, after his involvement in a shootout in Erie on Saturday morning. Jonathan Gavin Jr. is 18 years old; he admitted to the police that on Saturday morning, he exchanged gunfire with an unknown man in a residential neighborhood on East 21st Street. He says that when he was attacked by the assailant, he returned fire from behind a pickup, and the assailant ran. Prosecutors say Gavin’s weapon was unregistered and that the bullets he fired entered a home across the street and struck furniture and a television in a family’s living room. Gavin was released on bail on Monday.

Fire Victim Identified
Waterford – Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook has identified the victim of a deadly weekend fire in Waterford. The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Joseph Gradler of Waterford, a resident of the apartment building that was destroyed by the fire. An investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshals has so far been inconclusive into the cause of the fire that killed Joseph. Eight departments tried to stop the fire, which was already fully involved when they arrived. This was the second deadly fire in Erie County this year.
