Franklin Pair Crash in Mercer County
Mercer – Investigators say that nobody was wearing a seatbelt in a crash that killed a woman and injured a man. Both victims were Franklin Residents. Kimberly Lawson died, and Timothy Smith was severely injured when they were both thrown from a Jeep Wrangler in Mercer County’s Coolspring Township at about 7:30 Tuesday night. Police say that Lawson was driving on Franklin Road when she lost control of the Jeep and collided with a roadside utility pole, causing the Jeep to roll over and throw them both.

DUI Enforcement for St. Patrick’s Day
Harrisburg – PennDOT is teaming up with local and state police for ‘Operation Sober Shamrock’ ahead of the St. Patrick’s Day DUI enforcement period, which takes place from the 7th to the 17th of March this year. Operation Sober Shamrock is an effort to reduce DUI-related incidents on Pennsylvania’s roads and highways by stepping up traffic enforcement and education efforts around St. Patrick’s Day. State and local authorities will be performing roving DUI patrols and checkpoints, among other enforcement activities, starting this weekend and ending after St. Patrick’s Day.
