Eagles Cause Temporary Closure of Campground Facilities
Hermitage – Bald eagles are the reason for the temporary closure of multiple campsites at the Shenango River Lake Campgrounds starting last Friday. The US Army Corps of Engineers announced the closure of campsites at the campgrounds in the Shenango River Lake Recreational Area in Mercer County after biologists identified a pair of nesting bald eagles and at least one eaglet. 58 plots will be closed to create a buffer zone until late July, when the eaglet is expected to start flying on its own and become a fledgling. Over 150 reservations for campsites will be cancelled and refunded.
