Primary Election Day Today
Pennsylvania – Today is primary election day in Pennsylvania; this year’s elections are mainly municipal elections for local officials like mayor and city council, or school board, but there are also statewide elections for superior court and commonwealth court judges. Polls across the state will be open for 13 hours today from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.; anybody in line to vote at the time the polls close will still be able to vote in the election. Mail-in ballots must arrive at your county election office by 8 p.m. tonight to be counted.
If you are voting for the first time or at a new location after changing address, PA law requires that you provide some form of identification.ID is most often a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License or ID card, but can also be any photographic ID issued by the state or federal governments, or employee or student IDs from a school or workplace within the Commonwealth. If you do not have a photo ID, other forms of identification, like your voter registration confirmation, can also be accepted; find more information about Voter ID at Vote.PA.gov.
