Final Day for Voter Registration before Primaries
Harrisburg – If you are not registered to vote and wish to take part in this year’s Pennsylvania Primary Election on Tuesday, May 19th, this is the last day to get registered. Pennsylvania Law closes registration 15 days before an election is to be held. The quickest way to register is online at PA.gov/vote. You will need a Pennsylvania Driver’s license or Photo ID, or your Social Security number, to get registered; you can also be registered while acquiring an ID.
You will also need proof of address and to have lived in PA for at least 30 days before registering. You can also register to vote at your voter services office, while getting or renewing a driver’s license, and while applying for unemployment or other benefits. The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is next Tuesday, May 12th, one week ahead of the primary.

Free Tree Tender Training
Franklin – Next week, the City of Franklin is hosting a free Tree Tender Training course at the Franklin Industrial & Commercial Development Authority, 191 Howard Street. The training is an all-day event, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13th, and lunch will be provided. This course is good for professionals, hobbyists, and the arbor-curious and is free of cost thanks to Federal Grants. Industry professionals will teach lessons on identifying, planting, and caring for trees, as well as tree biology, and how to identify common stressors for trees.Sign up online by scanning a QR code on flyers around town, or through the Microsoft Cloud link. This is an excellent opportunity to learn a new skill or strengthen your existing expertise that can help keep Northwest Pennsylvania’s trees healthy.
