Four Injured in Shooting
Sharon – Police in Mercer County are attempting to develop suspects in a Monday night shooting that injured four young adults. At 10:30 p.m. in Sharon, witnesses and police say that 10-15 shots rang out on the 300 block of Baldwin Avenue. Every bullet struck the same home where a small party was happening and injured four of the party-goers, two males and two females between the ages of 18 and 19. Shooting in Erie’s West End
Erie – In Erie, Police are also investigating a shooting. One person was taken to the hospital in a bystander’s personal vehicle just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday night after being shot on Erie’s west side. Police were called for the shooting at West 10th and Liberty Streets, but shell casings were found three blocks away at 10th and Raspberry. Authorities did not identify the victim, nor talk about their condition to the media.

California Cold Case Solved in Ohio
Jefferson, OH – A nearly 50-year-old cold case in California was solved in Ashtabula County, Ohio. 69-year-old Willy Sims of Jefferson was arrested and charged with homicide for the 1977 death of Jeanette Ralston in Santa Clara, California. Police in California and Ohio cooperated to gather evidence after fingerprints connected Sims to the 48-year-old crime scene; they were able to acquire DNA and compare it to DNA on the T-shirt used to strangle Jeanette to death. Sims is awaiting extradition to California.

PSP Phasing Out Shotguns
Harrisburg – The Pennsylvania State Police are officially phasing out shotguns from their armories. In a recent press release, the PSP announced that they are phasing out shotguns and replacing them with .223 caliber rifles. The announcement was made around a week after it was determined that York Township police officer Andrew Duarte was killed by pellets fired from another police officer’s shotgun during a shootout at UPMC Memorial Hospital, but the State Police did not indicate if the incident had any impact on their decision.
