Tresspasser Attacks Policemen
Sugarcreek – A trespassing incident involving a drunken man quickly went from funny to felony in Sugarcreek. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, at about 1:45 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, November 2nd, 42-year-old Conner McCarthy of Franklin entered through the back door of a stranger’s home, stumbled into a bedroom, and passed out. Police say he violently attacked two State Troopers who tried to rouse him from sleeping on the resident’s floor. McCarthy has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and criminal trespass, among other crimes; his blood alcohol level was twice the legal threshold for drunk.
Pickup Rolls on Icy Road
Saegertown – A 65-year-old woman was taken to Meadville Medical Center after he car rolled over on slippery roads Tuesday. Nancy Farmer was complaining of head pain as she was extracted from her overturned pickup truck on Tuesday morning. Crash scene investigators say that she was driving with bald tires on a slippery road surface on Route 198 in Hayfield Township, Crawford County, and lost control of her pickup, which ended up rolling after sliding into a ditch. No charges were filed.
Police Search for Abandonment Suspect
Greenville – In Mercer County, the Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a suspect in the abandonment of two dogs outside of Greenville. According to State Troopers, eyewitnesses saw a white male with a bald head, estimated to be between 50 and 60 years old, abandon two dogs along Methodist Road in Salem Township. On Saturday, October 18th, the suspect was seen by multiple people driving a tan pickup or SUV along Methodist Road and then stopping to toss two dogs out of a window. He drove away to the south, leaving the animals behind. Anyone with information is urged to call the Pennsylvania State Police in Mercer at (724)748-0044.
Woman Charged with Felony After Dog Discovered
Youngsville – A couple has been charged with animal cruelty in Warren County after investigators successfully traced a pair of abandoned dogs to them. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Trista Wilson and Drake Johnson of Youngsville were charged with multiple crimes after their arrest in late October. Two abandoned and extremely malnourished dogs were discovered in Sugar Grove Township on Friday, October 17th, and taken to Paws Along the River for rescue. Wilson has been charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty and remains in Warren County Jail on bail. Johnson was only charged with misdemeanors and released on his own recognizance.
Deer Crashes Rise Sharply
Northwest PA – Deer strike season is in full swing for the year. November is the peak of the rutting season, and across Northwest Pennsylvania, the number of car accidents involving deer has increased exponentially. New reports of crashes involving deer damaging vehicles and also injuring motorists are coming in daily from the Pennsylvania State Police and other sources. Deer are most active at dawn and dusk, just before sunrise and after sunset, but during mating and hunting season, their movements become more erratic and unpredictable. Drive with caution and watch for deer on the sides of roads while driving.
