92-year-old Man Arrested for Hit-and-Run
Erie – Police have charged a 92-year-old Erie man for a hit-and-run that happened on Saturday. The Pennsylvania State Police say that Louis Stiles was leaving St. Boniface Church in Erie at around 6:00 p.m. in the evening when he hit the man who was directing traffic outside of the church. Investigators reported that witnesses say that Stiles pulled over to the side of the road and left his SUV, but then got back inside and drove away without rendering aid or waiting for emergency responders. He also did not admit any involvement in the incident. The victim was taken to UMPC Hamot under suspicion of serious injuries; no updates have been provided about his condition.

Commonwealth Passes $50 Billion Budget Four Months Late
Harrisburg – Pennsylvania’s budget impasse ended after more than four months last night when Governor Josh Shapiro signed a $50 billion budget for fiscal year 2025-2026. The state legislature could not agree on a budget for the commonwealth for 134 days. As he signed the budget bill into law, the Governor remarked, “This day, of course, is a long time coming.”
Among the budget’s major provisions is another increase to education spending and new tax credits for Pennsylvania residents; the bill also officially removes Pennsylvania from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.
