Storms Approach Area on Thanksgiving
NWPA – The weather may not be cooperative with people’s Thanksgiving Day plans in the region tomorrow. Late Tuesday night, the National Weather Service announced a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Crawford, Erie, and Warren Counties in Pennsylvania, Ashtabula County, Ohio, and Chautauqua County, New York. NWS also extended a Winter Weather Advisory into Mercer, Venango, and Forest Counties in Pennsylvania, and Trumbull County, Ohio. As a cold front moves southeast from Canada and over Lake Erie, it is expected to bring with it significant snowfall and also strong, gusty winds, as fast as 45 mph.
Travel should become especially difficult in the afternoon and evening, around dinner. PennDOT is warning drivers that conditions could become extremely dangerous and recommends avoiding unnecessary travel. Thanksgiving travelers should consider staying in the areas they go to and waiting for safer weather.
