Cyclist Dies After Crash
Mercer – 19-year-old Kyle Hites of Greenville died on Monday, days after being struck by a van while riding a bicycle in Mercer. Kyle was hospitalized last Wednesday night when he was struck by a van near the intersection of Greenville Avenue and Penn Avenue after riding the bike from a driveway and into the street. He was airlifted to a hospital at about 9:45 p.m. where he lingered until Monday before passing from his injuries. Authorities have not publicly identified the driver of the van, and at press time, no charges have been filed against them. 

Balmer Pleads Guilty to All Charges in Governor Assassination Attempt
Harrisburg – In state news, Cody Balmer pleaded guilty to attempted murder, and multiple counts of arson, reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, terrorism, and other crimes on Tuesday, taking full responsibility for attacking the home of Governor Josh Shapiro earlier this year. The 38-year-old accepted a sentence of 25 – 50 years in prison for the April 13th Firebombing at the Governor’s Mansion. On that date, Balmer managed to scale the iron security fence surrounding the mansion in Harrisburg and throw two incendiary devices into the dining room. Governor Shapiro told reporters that his family supported the plea deal.
