Avery Chauncey Dies
Corry – The teenage founder of a nonprofit organization that helps pets has died at only 18 years old. Avery Chauncey, founder of Avery’s Pawsitive Change, succumbed to her years-long battle with Ewing Sarcoma. Ewing Sarcoma is the second most common form of pediatric bone cancer, and Avery struggled with the disease for 5 ½ years. Avery began her charitable work by soliciting donations that benefited over 4,000 animal shelters nationwide. Avery’s Pawsitive Change was founded in 2023 when Avery was 16. It has helped feed more than 800 hungry pets across Northwest Pennsylvania monthly by providing pet food to local food banks. In life, her accomplishments also included graduating cum laude from Corry Area High School and receiving an academic achievement award, being awarded the Friend to Animals Award by PETA, and more.
Avery passed in hospice on Tuesday, surrounded by loved ones, and will have a private funeral facilitated by Bracken Funeral Home of Corry, PA. In place of flowers or other well-wishes, memorials can be offered to Avery’s Pawsitive Change at AverysPawsitiveChange.com or PO Box 207, Corry, PA 16407.
